Prescott back in the eye of the Cowboys’ storm
While Prescott enjoys his time with his family, the looming uncertainty of his contract negotiations with the Cowboys adds a layer of complexity to his offseason.
Entering his eighth season with Dallas, Prescott remains without a long-term deal, despite his impressive performance last year, leading the NFL with 36 touchdowns.
The Cowboys face the challenging task of negotiating not only with Prescott but also with key players CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons, who are also seeking long-term deals.
As the team heads to Oxnard, California, for training camp, the pressure is on for the franchise to secure its core players.
Dallas COO and EVP Stephen Jones acknowledged the complexity of these negotiations, stating, “Those things take time. And we’re talking about deals here… when you’re talking about CeeDee and Dak… somebody like a Micah [Parsons] coming up… you’re talking about two players that aren’t quarterbacks that feel like they ought to be a little bit like Jefferson, the top paid non-quarterbacks in the league.”
Despite the uncertainties, Jones expressed optimism about extending Prescott, Lamb, and Parsons.
“We’re trying to a little bit play Houdini in how to keep all of these guys around Dak and keep these players we were fortunate enough to draft,” he said.
As training camp begins, fans will undoubtedly be watching closely to see how the Cowboys navigate these crucial negotiations and gear up for what feels like a pivotal season.
