Chris Brown and ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran reunited at Coachella over the weekend — eight years after Tran, now 36, was granted a restraining order against the controversial singer.
Perhaps even more unexpected than their run-in on Sunday, April 13, were their smiles upon greeting each other, images obtained by TMZ that show the exes talking and laughing with each other.
Though the stars stood a significant distance apart from each other, they appeared to be in good spirits while catching up at the Indio, California music festival in the desert.

Tran — who appeared to throw her head back in laughter at something Brown was saying — wore a white crop top and dark-wash flare jeans that featured a series of silvery, belly chain-like jewelry that wrapped around her lower hips and around her waistline. She wore her hair away from her face with a bandana.
Brown, 35, wore an oversized black tee, a baseball cap, and a large chain that dangled from his neck. He completed the fit with several jewel-encrusted bracelets around his wrist.
The former couple’s Coachella moment occurred three years after Tran’s restraining order against the “Loyal” singer expired.
She was originally granted the order in 2017 after filing paperwork that claimed Brown was physically abusive to her. Tran also shared text messages in which Brown allegedly threatened, “Bitch I will beat the shit out of you” and “I promise you I will make your life hell.”
The exes’ troublesome, six-year, on-and-off relationship began in 2011. At the beginning, the disgraced R&B singer — whose legal issues have made headlines for over a decade — briefly reconciled with ex-girlfriend Rihanna. (Brown was infamously arrested for physically assaulting the Fenty Beauty founder in 2009.) After splitting from Rihanna in 2012, Brown and Tran got back together in 2013, calling it quits on and off until it was revealed that Brown fathered a child in 2015; the pair ultimately split for good.
