African-American woman retires after 47 years of working for a restaurant in the US, gets rewarded for dedicated service

An African-American woman named Loretta Neely retires after working for 47 years at a KFC restaurant. She was honored for her commitment and dedicated service.

Loretta has been working in a KFC restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee for 47 years, working in all types of positions. For almost 5 decades, she has worked in various roles from taking orders to cooking in the kitchen and training new hires.

Loretta was recognized for her many years of service to the company as she finally prepares for her retirement. When her managers learned of her retirement plans, they wasted no time honoring her.

KFC team created the Loretta Neely Drive and Passion Award in Nelly’s honor which they named the Living Legend Award. She was commended for her exceptional passion, strong work ethic, and resilience as someone who never complains.

Despite witnessing several changes over the years, Loretta said her dedication to serving others has kept her going on the job. She believes the key to success is taking pride in one’s work, regardless of the task.

“My people coming in. I like working with people.  I like developing people, making sure that they are successful, along with me being successful,” she said.

Loretta said though she is in no rush to leave her work family, she is eager for what is to come in retirement. She added that she is looking forward to spending time with her grandchildren, her church family, and her husband.
