An upcoming addition to the Colleen Hoover cinematic universe now has a star.
Anne Hathaway is set to lead in the Amazon MGM Studios adaptation of the author’s bestselling novel Verity, according to Deadline.

A release date for the film has not been announced.

Verity follows struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh as she accepts a job to complete the thriller novels of famed author Verity Crawford (Hathaway), who was injured in a mysterious accident.
Ashleigh soon discovers an unfinished manuscript among Crawford’s work that contains chilling and lurid details about the author’s family.
The novel became massively popular after American author Hoover self-published it in 2018, its success driven in part by her fan base on BookTok, a literary subcommunity of TikTok.
It was on The New York Times bestsellers list for months and sold more than 935,000 copies in 2023 alone.
The casting news comes after the box-office success of It Ends with Us, which debuted in cinemas in August. The film, starring Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, was the first book-to-screen adaptation for Hoover and grossed over US$340 million internationally.
Other Hoover novels in the works to become movies are Regretting You, about a mother and daughter’s relationship in the aftermath of grief, and Reminders of Him, about a young mother picking up the pieces of her life after a five-year stint in prison.
