Simone Biles blasts Donald Trump voters after US election win

Simone Biles has pleaded with Joe Biden to ‘make some things shake’ in the final days of his tenure and has hit out at Donald Trump voters after he was elected as President of the United States for a second time.

Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday by winning 277 electoral votes in one of the closest presidential races in US history.

Legendary gymnast Biles, who has won seven Olympic gold medals for the United States during her career, was a vocal supporter of Harris in the lead up to the election.

But following Harris’ defeat, Biles urged Biden to make an impact before Trump arrives for his second term in January.

‘Mr Biden, I need you to stand up, straighten your back and make some things shake before your departure. xoxo the women in america,’ Biles wrote on X.

Biden remains in control of the US federal government for the next 75 days until January 20, 2025, when Trump will be inaugurated as the 47th president.

Biles also took aim at Trump voters on Instagram as she shared a message which read: ‘Over 71 million people voted for a president that’s been found liable for sexual abuse.’

Alongside the message, Biles wrote: ‘This y’all?’ and includes several emojis of a nauseated face, a pair eyes and a pointing finger.

Biles had also shared a message on her Instagram story which read: ‘Supporting a convicted felon over a woman is insane.’

Following Trump’s win, Biles also wrote two messages on Threads which read, ‘I’m so sorry America’, and, ‘we deserve better’.

Biden spoke with Trump on Wednesday to congratulate him on his victory and plans to meet the president-elect.

‘President Biden expressed his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition and emphasized the importance of working to bring the country together,’ the White House said.

Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said: ‘President Joe Biden called President Donald J. Trump to congratulate him on his victory and extended an invitation to the White House to ensure a smooth transition between the current Administration and the incoming Administration. President Trump looks forward to the meeting, which will take place shortly, and very much appreciated the call.’

‘To the young people who are watching, it is OK to feel sad and disappointed, but please know it’s going to be OK. On the campaign, I would often say, when we fight, we win,’ Harris said.

‘But here’s the thing, sometimes the fight takes a while. That doesn’t mean we won’t win, that doesn’t mean we won’t win. The important thing is, don’t ever give up. Don’t ever give up. Don’t ever stop trying to make the world a better place. You have power. You have power. And don’t you ever listen when anyone tells you something is impossible because it has never been done before.

‘You have the capacity to do extraordinary good in the world.

‘And so to everyone who is watching, do not despair. This is not a time to throw up our hands. This is a time to roll up our sleeves. This is a time to organise, to mobilize and to stay engaged for the sake of freedom and justice and the future that we all know we can build together.’
