DJ Clark Kent has not passed away, according to Questlove, Angie Martinez and others, despite reports suggesting otherwise.

On Wednesday (October 16), AllHipHop claimed that the veteran DJ, producer and sneakerhead had died due to “an undisclosed illness,” citing unnamed sources.

The Roots drummer was quick to shut down the story, writing on Instagram shortly after: “DJ Clark Kent is STILL with us. I know a lot of you are rushing to be ‘FIRST!’

“But until word or statement comes from his wife or family, can y’all please quit with the misinformation? It’s stressful as it is.”

Legendary radio host Martinez also debunked the rumor, writing on X (formerly Twitter): “The article that The Source Mag & others have posted about the passing of Dj Clark Kent is false. Clark is home with his family. Please refrain from sharing any other false information.  It is hurtful, deeply irresponsible and untrue.”

Pete Rock also hit out at those spreading the unsubstantiated news, writing on Instagram: “DJ Clark Kent has not passed away. Stop traumatizing his family posting that he passed!!”

DJ Clark Kent himself has yet to address the speculation surrounding his health.

The scare comes weeks after it was reported that Angie Martinez is producing a documentary about the 58-year-old, who produced classic songs like JAY-Z‘s “Brooklyn’s Finest,” Biggie‘s “Sky’s the Limit” and Junior M.A.F.I.A.‘s “Player’s Anthem.”

Titled God’s Favorite DJ: The Story of DJ Clark Kent, the film will chronicle his influential four-decade career in Hip Hop, exploring how he convinced JAY-Z to pursue rap full-time, “taught The Notorious B.I.G. to perform like a star” and “coached Lil Kim through her first studio session.”

The documentary will also include appearances from the likes of Hov, Questlove and DJ Khaled.

“DJ Clark Kent is a rare gem whose influence is seen in nearly every era of Hip-Hop’s history books,” Martinez told The Hollywood Reporter. “With our 50-year-old culture susceptible to outside perspective and agenda, it’s important that we spotlight the heroes who push the art form with purity and authenticity.

“I am honored to help share Clark’s many truths with the world.”
