Chris Brown is thanking everyone who participated in the “Residuals” verse challenge. On Wednesday (March 12), he took to Instagram Stories to thank fans and artists for their contributions.“I’m glad it’s giving people the opportunity to be seen and heard,” Brown wrote. He later added, “Real R&B isn’t dead, and I thank you for showing me that.” His words echo a sentiment many artists have expressed, including Muni Long, who recently voiced similar praise for the genre’s resurgence.
For those who haven’t kept up with the viral moment, the challenge began with R&B veteran Tank. He sparked the movement by posting his own verse, calling Chris Brown’s 11:11 the best R&B album and “Residuals” the best R&B song in the world. His version set the bar high, inspiring a wave of responses from singers eager to showcase their talent.
Since then, a mix of established and rising stars have joined in. WanMor, Mario, Trevor Jackson, and Jacob Latimore have reminded fans that R&B’s male vocalists are still delivering. Latimore’s verse, in particular, sparked speculation about his rumored breakup with Serayah. Women have made their mark as well, with Rileyy Lanez, Yelly, and others adding much-needed perspectives to the conversation.
Beyond celebrating the challenge’s success, Brown also gave fans a promising update about his upcoming tour. “I see all y’all in my comments asking about the tour dates,” he wrote. “They [are] coming.”
