Chris Brown’s Legal Battle Over 2023 London Club Fight Takes A Turn

Per Billboard, Amadoua “Abe” Diaw filed a request on Friday, June 27, to dismiss his case against Chris Brown with prejudice, which means he can’t refile the case in court. However, Rolling Stone reported that neither side has confirmed a settlement.

Diaw accused Chris of attacking him in February 2023, which led to his hospitalization and a $16 million lawsuit. In the suit, Diaw claimed the attack left him with deep cuts on his head and torn ligaments in his legs. TMZ also notes that even though Diaw has dropped the lawsuit, Chris still faces criminal charges of assault and possession of a weapon. For now, officials haven’t said if the dropped lawsuit will impact the criminal case.

Here’s What Chris Brown Pleaded In Court

The Shade Room previously reported that Chris Brown pleaded not guilty on June 20 to the 2023 beating of Abe Diaw. Authorities arrested the singer in May after prosecutors charged him with one count of grievous bodily harm. Prosecutors later filed an indictment adding two more counts — assault causing actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon. Chris hasn’t entered pleas for the additional charges yet. He is expected to return to court on July 11, following the European leg of his ‘Breezy Bowl XX’ tour.
