Chris Brown is remaining behind bars after his arrest in the U.K. for an alleged 2023 bottle attack at a London nightclub.
The recent Grammy winner was denied bail and remanded to custody by District Judge Joanne Hirst at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
The 36-year-old was nabbed at a hotel in Manchester on Thursday and charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm in what prosecutors called an “unprovoked attack … in a nightclub full of people.”
Brown, who was in the U.K. promoting his upcoming tour, is accused of using a bottle of Don Julio tequila to assault music producer Abe Diaw. A lawyer for Diaw told the Daily News that his client suffered serious injuries, but did not offer additional information.

Diaw reportedly filed a civil suit seeking $16 million in damages stemming from the alleged attack.
In court on Friday, where Brown was accompanied by two security guards, prosecutors detailed the incident at the Tape club, describing how the singer allegedly struck Diaw multiple times on the head with the glass bottle.
“The defendant then pursued him to a separate area of the nightclub where the victim was punched and kicked repeatedly by him and another,” said prosecutor Hannah Nicholls.
Judge Hirst told Brown the alleged crime was “too serious” for her jurisdiction and referred his case to London’s Southwark Crown Court. She reportedly refused an application for bail from his legal counsel.
Brown is next scheduled to appear in court on June 13.
The “Go Crazy” crooner was set to kick off his Breezy Bowl XX tour on June 8 in The Netherlands, before launching into a string of dates across the U.K. The status of his tour is now in question.
