The retro silhouette is quickly picking up steam thanks to its sleek, streamlined design (a nod to the Met Gala’s exhibit theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”), effortlessly chic allure, and uncomplicated nature. She completed the look with a toffee-colored jacket, casual blue tote bag, oversized black sunglasses, and Western-inspired boots.

Naomi Watts, Natalie Portman, and Nicole Kidman have also worn cuffed jeans, which align with  the rise of the Chloé-girl movement, where ruffles, puff sleeves, and sheer fabrics complement the exaggerated yet free-spirited pant cuffs. And when Hollywood stars and runway aesthetics make a deal, you know the look is bound to pop up at all of your parties, restaurants, and neighborhood sidewalks.

As a petite, 4-foot-11 woman who’s constantly running her jeans to the tailor, I’m all for the easy look. I have the luxury of pulling just about any jeans off the rack and using the extra, floor-grazing fabric to my advantage, folding it up into an oversized cuff. But tall girls aren’t exempt from this fashion-takeover.

You’ll find yourself with two denim hues in one style, similar to Miley Cyrus’s inside-out pants—but they’re simpler to style than you’d think. My go-to option is a sleek kitten heel, mini coordinating purse, and gold, layered jewelry. A slim belt, baby tee, and mesh ballet flats offers a more casual take, while a cropped tweed jacket and slicked-back bun gives off a rich-girl aesthetic.

Hathaway may just have introduced me to my new favorite denim trend yet—and you’re about to see a lot more of it this spring and summer.
