Chris Brown left his mark on the 2025 NAACP Image Awards, sweeping all three categories in which he was nominated.
The chart-topping global star claimed Outstanding Male Artist, Outstanding Soul/R&B Song for his love ballad “Residuals,” and Outstanding International Song for “Hmmm” with Davido. Brown won against industry heavyweights like Beyoncé, SZA, Usher, Kendrick Lamar, and Wizkid.
His track “Residuals” outshined entries from Coco Jones (“Here We Go (Uh Oh)”), PJ Morton (“I Found You”), SZA (“Saturn”), and Beyoncé’s “16 CARRIAGES.” Meanwhile, in the international category, Brown’s Afrobeats-infused collaboration “Hmmm” with the Nigerian superstar beat out Tyla (“Jump”), Tems (“Love Me JeJe”), Skip Marley (“Close”) and Wizkid (“Piece of My Heart”), further showcasing his global reach.
The 35-year-old artist also scored Outstanding Male Artist over Kendrick Lamar, October London, Usher, and J. Cole.
Brown took to Instagram with a simple repost of his wins with a heart and prayer hand emoji. “It’s about time he’s given his flowers while he’s still here to smell them,” one fan typed. Another commented, “Now lets get him back to award show performances and the superbowl half time!!!!!!”
Taraji P. Henson also commented on his post with “KEEP GOING!!!!!!!” as Blueface’s mom, Karlissa, wrote, “Nothing like a comebacK.”
Chris Brown had a great year and recently wrapped up his sold-out 11:11 North American Tour and international shows in South Africa and Brazil.
“I’ve been waiting my whole life for this kind of moment,” a full-hearted Brown told the massive crowd. “I just want to say from the bottom of my heart I love you guys so much. This night means a lot to me.”
Congratulations to Breezy!
