Anne Hathaway has won 40 awards from over 100 nominations across her career, and has always been a sure thing for chic on the red carpet. This awards season, Hathaway isn’t on any nominees list, but that hasn’t stopped her dressing like a winning statuette.
Hathaway, who last won an Oscar in 2012 for her turn as Fantine in Les Misérables, attended the opening ceremony of the Bulgari Infinity Serpents Exhibition in Shanghai, China. Styled by long-term collaborator and friend Erin Walsh, she wore a gold, sculptural Oscar de la Renta gown, with a full, stand-to-attention skirt that floats all by itself and stiff strapless neckline. She wore gold peeptoe, croc-effect Louboutins with a pop of red on her toes. And of course, a Bulgari gold and silver necklace made up of intertwining serpents, ringed with blue and red jewels, with serpent-headed earrings to match.
She posed alongside actor Crystal Liu Yifei, a fellow brand ambassador.
As a long-time brand ambassador for the Italian jewelry house, Hathaway is an ardent fan of the formidable jewels, whether for red carpet moments and paired with gowns, or in deft high-low dressing that juxtaposes a much coveted Gap dress with a diamond necklace, earrings, bracelet, and rings.
She kept her hair and makeup pared back: a simple French bun with a deep side part, rose blush and a matching rosy lip.
Dressing as the statuette you know you deserve already looks set to overtake method dressing: as the 2025 Golden Globes well proved, gold is a winning color play. The night’s most well-deserved winner, Demi Moore, accepted her award for The Substance in a gilded Armani mermaid gown. Gold was also the go-to for Ariana Grande, Elle Fanning, Cate Blanchett, and more.
Walsh, Hathaway’s stylist, made Mindy Kaling into a golden goddess for the Globes, styling her in a sparkling Ashi Studio gown. On the same night, she gave Selena Gomez a full, old Hollywood glamor look in custom, baby blue Prada.
And while this awards season is quiet for Hathaway, 2025 counts six upcoming projects, including the next iterations of The Devil Wears Prada and The Princess Diaries. There’s also the forthcoming Mother Mary from A24, where Hathaway plays a pop star opposite Michaela Coel’s fashion designer.
