Simone Biles’ Ex-Coach Cecile Landi Gets Emotional As Olympian Daughter Drops Massive NCAA Update

Cecile Landi and her husband, Laurant Landi, have been one of the most visible coaches in gymnastics. In fact, they’ve been instrumental in Simone Biles‘ triumphant comeback to the mat. Not only did they give the G.O.A.T. unwavering support, but they also did an incredible job of understanding what the Olympian needed after her harrowing experience at the Tokyo Olympics. This is what led to the 27-year-old’s dreamy stint in Paris.

However, more than just renowned coaches, they are also loving parents to their daughter, Juliette. The 17-year-old accompanied her parents to the French capital. She looked forward to competing on the world’s grandest stage as a member of the French diving team. Her parents couldn’t have been prouder and were extremely supportive of their daughter’s incredible debut. However, Juliette Landi gave her parents another heartwarming reason to celebrate. What could it be?

Cecile Landi is a proud mama bear

On November 14, Simone Biles’ ex-coach announced on Instagram that her daughter, Juliette, had made the most pivotal decision of her life. She shared a carousel of celebratory images and captioned it, “Tonight, she signed to study and compete at Auburn University! She’ll join the @auburndiving @auburnswimdive team next summer/fall!” Cecile Landi reiterated she was proud of her daughter and couldn’t wait to see how her future unfolds.

The coach also couldn’t help but gush over how Juliette had always dreamed of carving her own path. “Since a very young age, growing up in the gym, surrounded by Olympians and NCAA athletes, she’s been dreaming of her own goals. This year, she made those dreams a reality!” The 17-year-old had always envisioned herself as a gymnast and dreamed of contesting in the Summer Games.  So, how did she make the switch to diving, you ask?

About three years ago, Juliette took up scuba diving and couldn’t shake it off. Eventually, she realized that she wanted to pursue diving seriously. On July 27, she represented France in synchronized diving with Naïs Gillet in the 3m event. Even though Cecile and Laurent Landi had to focus on the Simone Biles‘ much-awaited comeback to the Summer Games, they took some time out of their busy schedule to support their daughter.

They had to miss practice for the event. But the duo reiterated that the Golden Girls understood. Juliette and Gillet scored 240.03 and had to settle for eighth place. Yet, one of her biggest cheerleaders couldn’t have been more excited.

Simone Biles cheers Juliette Landi on upon stellar debut

Leading up to the Games, Cecile Landi shared a post from Equipe France announcing that her daughter had made the French team on her Instagram story. However, the G.O.A.T. couldn’t help but chime in, sharing the same post on her Instagram stories as well. She captioned it, “GO @juliette_landi PARIS BOUND” with a heart and French flag emoji.

After Cecile Landi and Simone Biles’ encouraging support, Juliette Landi announced her selection for the Paris Olympics with a carousel post on Instagram. Not only was this a dream come true for the 17-year-old, but it meant a great deal to her. Landi reiterated that she was proud of herself and took the opportunity to show her gratitude for her coaches and teammates in the States and France.

As excited as the wunderkind was, this moment was just as special for Cecile and Laurent Landi. Why, you ask? The duo happen to be former Olympians as well. However, now they’ve taken a step back and instead used to train the 11x Olympic medalist along with several other WCC talents. So, watching their daughter fulfill her Summer Games dream must have been just as inspiring.

After helping Simone Biles clinch 4 Olympic medals in Paris, Cecile Landi took up the role of co-head coach at the University of Georgia. However, while the coach has settled in at Athens, her husband will work at the WCC and stay back with Juliette. Given how the Olympian has committed to Auburn, Laurent might shift his base to reunite with Cecile.
