After her incredible success at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris, Simone Biles has been working hard to make the most of her fame. But here’s the rub: she often finds herself going solo. Her husband, Jonathan Owens, plays safety for the Chicago Bears, which means he’s living that hectic NFL life—always on the move and caught up in the grind of travel and games. With Biles touring the country for her Gold Over America tour, it’s been tough for them to carve out time together, and that can put a strain on any relationship, making it feel like they’re ships passing in the night.
Now that the Gold Over America tour is wrapping up on the 3rd of November, there was a lot of hope that the couple would finally get some quality time together, especially with the NFL season also coming to an end soon. However, it seems that Owens is still prioritizing his commitments, which are not related to the NFL but rather acts of kindness. As a result, Biles may find herself feeling a bit lonely during the holiday season.
Will long-distance strain Simone Biles and Jonathan Owen’s relationship this holiday season?
Jonathan Owens recently expressed his enthusiasm for his turkey drive on Instagram by stating, “I’m excited to announce my 3rd annual turkey drive! I’ll be partnering with the K.W.O.E Foundation to provide 500 families in the Chicago area with turkeys and nonperishables for the holidays. We’ll be at the BBF Center For The Arts and meals will be first come, first served!! It’s always a blessing to be able to give back and support families in the community, especially during the holidays. I’m so excited to meet everyone and see the smiles on their faces.”
Scheduled for November 11th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, this heartfelt initiative means Owens will be busy giving back, complicating his and Simone Biles’ holiday plans. However, they still have one last opportunity to meet up this month.
With a big game against the Detroit Lions coming up on November 28th, Jonathan’s got his hands full. But will Simone Biles be there to cheer him on? Sadly, it doesn’t look like it. Just a few days ago, Biles shared her thoughts on her Thanksgiving plans, noting that the game falls on Thanksgiving Day this year. She said, “We’ll have to see since it is Thanksgiving. Usually, some of the wives, we stay home because they get on a flight right after that game, so we’re usually back home waiting for them. Because if not, we don’t know when we’ll be able to get home and spend that holiday with them.”
Biles’ comments really shine a light on the tightrope she walks between supporting Jonathan and making the most of their time together. Her supporters would surely enjoy watching her in the crowd cheering for him; however, it appears that their geographical separation may persist as they navigate their schedules.
Thanksgiving is coming up soon. They’ll need to find a way to stay in touch despite their schedules—especially since Biles hasn’t decided yet if she’ll be able to make it to his game or not! The big question is whether this distance will impact their relationship in any way.
Together against the clock in finding love amidst hectic schedules
This isn’t the first time Simone and Jonathan have faced the challenges of long distance. Shortly after tying the knot in April 2023, the football star headed across the country to play for the Green Bay Packers. They celebrated their destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas that May, but less than a week later, Jonathan signed his contract in Green Bay, launching them into long-distance living. At the time, Simone expressed how much they “cherish the moments that we get together,” noting that her husband was “doing great out in Green Bay.”
Despite the miles between them, the couple remains incredibly supportive of one another, with Jonathan flying to Paris to cheer on Simone during the Olympics. He was spotted in the stands with her parents, proudly wearing a T-shirt featuring her face, proving he truly is her biggest fan. Through all the miles, the couple has made it a priority to seize every opportunity to be together.
During Jonathan Owens’ Bye Week from the NFL, he hit the road with Simone Biles for her Gold Over America Tour, giving them a fantastic opportunity to enjoy some quality time together. Simone shared a fun Instagram post that captured their adventures, which included everything from hitting up an arcade to shopping while holding hands and cuddling during car rides. They also had some sweet moments at brunch and romantic strolls, with Jonathan even trying his hand at the parallel bars, all in good fun. This whirlwind of activities really showed how much they cherish their time together, proving that even with their busy schedules, love finds a way!
