Ryan Gosling has forgotten most of the dances he learned for his latest film, La La Land, but there was one he still knew well.
The Hollywood heartthrob guided Jimmy Kimmel across the floor on his show Wednesday night as Ryan taught the host the the waltz – the one dance he remembered from his time shooting the musical movie with Emma Stone.
When the band started playing music for the lesson, the leading man demanded a song change because he felt the original choice was not ‘romantic’ enough.

Dancing fools: Ryan Gosling guided Jimmy Kimmel across the floor on his show Wednesday night as he taught him to waltz
Getting sensitive! When the band started playing music for the lesson, the leading man demanded a song change because he felt the original choice was not ‘romantic’ enough
Gosling said: ‘Do we not have some romantic music? I mean… I mean, c’mon, let’s get sensitive, man!’
Once the tune felt more appropriate to the award-winner, he started putting the moves on Kimmel.
Ever the gentleman, the performer let the late night host know what was about to happen.
Wheels turning: Ryan smirked as he realized what was about to happen when Jimmy asked him which dances he remembered from shooting La La Land with Emma Stone
He said: ‘My forefinger and my thumb are going to start talking to your lower back. I need your lower back to just pay attention, all right?’
The two got off to a slow start, though, when Ryan wasn’t getting quite the attention he wanted from the late night host.
Apparently Kimmel was distracted, looking around at the audience instead of making eye contact with his dance partner.
‘Who ya lookin’ at?’ The leading man demanded the comedian’s full attention during the lesson
No missteps: Ryan and Jimmy floated across the floor after finally ironing out the kinks
Ryan scolded him: ‘Stop the music! Who ya lookin’ at? Are ya dancing with over there or are ya dancing with me?’
Jimmy learned an important lesson in that moment about connecting with his partner.
The actor went on: ‘It’s not about this [gesturing to their feet], it’s about this [gesturing to their eyes]. I want to feel like I’m the only person in the room.’
After the comedian apologized for his misstep, the two found their rhythm and Ryan led the dancing duo across the floor beautifully.
