Many were surprised to learn that actor Ryan Gosling played his own piano parts in for his Oscar nominated role in La La Land.
And new behind the scenes footage from the film shows that the 36-year-old stud is the genuine article when it comes to tickling the ivories.
In the clips, the Canadian born talent sits behind the keys to prove that it’s possible to have musical chops, good looks and charm all rolled into one.

The footage shows the former Disney Mouseketeer focused on his scales, practicing both classic and contemporary numbers including the uptempo tune Start a Fire performed with John Legend from his character’s sister’s wedding.
Variety confirmed with the musical sensation’s writer-director Damien Chazelle that it was Gosling playing the parts himself, simply saying ‘It’s all Ryan,’ when asked about the star’s music playing chops.
The Whiplash director also told Variety he had a backup player on set just in case, but the Drive actor was so talented that his understudy was never needed and never used.
The ever-talented Ryan also provided vocals on the song City of Stars, which earned an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.
