Native New Yorker Anne Hathaway was very happy about the latest big NBA upset. For the first time in twenty-five years, the New York Knicks are headed to the Eastern Conference Finals. After defeating the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, the Knicks are back on a winning streak, making longtime fans like Hathaway very happy.
In a viral Instagram post, Hathaway can be seen dancing to the song “Go New York Go,” the official song for the New York Knicks, first released by rapper Jesse Itzler in 1993.
Hathaway’s NYC sports fandom runs deep. At the Super Bowl earlier this year, Hathaway also went viral for celebrating the win of the New York Jets over the New England Patriots. At the time, her Eagles Dance took the world by storm, which is similar to her excitement while lip-synching “Go New York Go.” Hathaway was born in Brooklyn and raised in nearby Millburn, New Jersey.
Do the Knicks have a shot at the actual NBA Championship? After defeating the Celtics 119 to 81, it certainly seems like they’re on a hot streak. And if the Knicks do make it out of the playoffs, we’ll have to see how Anne Hathaway reacts to that.
