The Dallas Cowboys are making headlines as they gear up for the NFL draft later this month, following significant off-season moves aimed at bolstering their roster. The team restructured the contracts of quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, generating an impressive $56.6 million in cap space. Meanwhile, star rusher Micah Parsons is eyeing a new contract, as he is set to play the 2025 season on a fifth-year option worth just over $22 million. This figure falls short compared to other edge rushers who have recently signed contracts exceeding $35 million annually.

In addition to contract negotiations, the Cowboys have acquired quarterback Joe Milton from the New England Patriots, sending a 2025 fifth-round pick in return. Milton, a sixth-round selection in the 2024 draft, stepped into the spotlight during New England’s season finale, leading the team to a victory over the Buffalo Bills.

Amid these developments, ESPN analysts Stephen A. Smith and Dan Orlovski weighed in on the Cowboys’ prospects for the upcoming season. Orlovski expressed optimism, stating that the team could be significantly better than last year, contingent on Prescott’s health and the addition of a strong second option alongside Lamb. He highlighted a promising offensive line and the potential for impactful draft picks.

Conversely, Smith expressed skepticism, pointing out the numerous uncertainties surrounding the team, including Prescott’s injury history and the overall strength of the defense. He emphasized that the Cowboys currently face tough competition within their division, particularly from the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders.

As discussions unfold, fans eagerly await the draft, which could reshape the Cowboys’ chances for success in the upcoming season. The ongoing dialogue surrounding the team’s direction reflects a mix of hope and caution, illustrating the high stakes as Dallas aims to reclaim its standing in the NFL.
