In a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson expressed concerns about the lack of communication regarding his contract negotiations. Hendrickson, who has been a key player for the Bengals, revealed that discussions with the team’s management have been sporadic over the past few months, leaving him feeling frustrated.

During the interview, Hendrickson highlighted comments made by Bengals owner Katie Blackburn at the NFL owners’ meetings, where she suggested that he should be content with certain contract rates. This statement spurred Hendrickson to clarify his position, emphasizing that he has been advocating for a long-term deal with guaranteed money for the past three years. He acknowledged the successful contracts of teammates T. Higgins and Jamar Chase, which have raised expectations for his own negotiations.

Despite his frustrations, Hendrickson maintained a positive outlook on his role with the Bengals, stating, “I’m incredibly blessed to be in the NFL.” He affirmed his commitment to the team and expressed a desire for clarity in the negotiation process, particularly with offseason activities approaching. “Communication has been poor,” he remarked, stressing the importance of open dialogue between himself, his agent, and the Bengals’ management.

As the NFL draft approaches, Hendrickson mentioned the potential for a pre-draft trade if negotiations do not progress. However, he reiterated his preference to remain with the Bengals, praising the team’s fan base and community. “I would love to be in Cincinnati,” he declared, underlining his dedication and hope for a resolution that benefits both parties.

As negotiations continue, Hendrickson’s situation remains a focal point for Bengals fans and the organization, with hopes that improved communication will lead to a mutually beneficial agreement.
