The American Idol judges made an appearance on Good Morning America this week to promote the upcoming Season 23 premiere—and show off their dance moves during a dance-off in a fun game.
On the Wednesday, March 5 episode of GMA, hosts Lara Spencer and Robin Roberts led Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood in a game where they answered questions about themselves by stepping into one of three circles on the ground—one for each of their faces.
Roberts kicked things off by asking which of the judges is “most likely to be last to leave a party.”
In response, all three Idol stars stepped into Bryan’s circle.
“My face may be gone after this,” the country singer quipped.
Next, Spencer asked who was “most likely to win a dance-off”—and once again, everybody chose Bryan’s circle.
“Bye-bye face,” Bryan said before busting out into an impromptu dance.
“I think we know the answer to this, but who is most likely to break out into a song?” Roberts asked next.
Bryan and Richie agreed that Underwood was the correct answer, with Richie calling her “Jukebox Carrie.”
“I swear to you she knows every lyric to every song,” he said.
When it came to who is the biggest snacker on the Idol set, Roberts and Spencer were surprised to learn that none of the judges were “snacky,” as Underwood put it.
As for who’s the “most likely to give a golden ticket,” the judges were divided.
“I’d say it’s in this area,” Underwood said before placing one foot in her circle and one in Richie’s—after which Richie chose Underwood’s circle and Bryan stepped into Richie’s.
On Instagram, commenters couldn’t get over the playful segment.
“This was adorable!” raved one person, while another declared it to be “Brilliant!”
“Love this,” a third fan chimed in.
“They were spot on!!😂💙💙💙,” someone else cheered.
Season 23 of American Idol is scheduled to premiere on March 9 on ABC, with Underwood—a former winner of the series—replacing Katy Perry. This will be the first time an Idol alum returns as a judge.
