In the four years since Chayce Beckham won “American Idol,” he’s climbed the charts and toured the world, even scoring a number one country hit with “23.” But his success may not have been possible without the support of “Idol” judge Luke Bryan.

Bryan took Beckham under his wing after his season 19 win in 2021, from mentoring him in music to taking him fishing. That support hasn’t faded, Beckham told “The Morning Show” on Canada’s Global News on February 18, 2025.

Noting that he’d just talked to Bryan “the other day,” Beckham said it’s always meaningful to get affirmations from the singer, who’s had 31 chart-topping country hits in his career.

“He’s just the most loving guy,” Beckham said. “He’s like, always, ‘I love you buddy,’ and ‘Keep doing what you’re doing, bud.’”

When Beckham auditioned for “American Idol” in 2020, he was working as a forklift driver in his hometown of Apple Valley, California. He told American Songwriter that after playing in a Southern California bar band and developing a dependency on alcohol and marijuana, he tried out for the show at the urging of his mom, who thought it might give him a fresh start and a much-needed confidence boost.

Bryan saw something special in Beckham and has helped him navigate the music industry, even taking him on tour multiple times.

“It means the world having somebody of that stature to just say, like, if I ever need anything, if I need some advice, you know, I can call him up,” Beckham told the Global News morning show. “He’s just a good guy to have in your corner.”

In 2023, Beckham told Parade, “He’s played such an instrumental part in my career and my development, making sure that I’m with the right people and doing the right things. I’ve just really admired everything that he’s done for me and I look up to him.”

Beckham kicked off his “Bad For Me” tour, named after his current album, in Australia on March 9 and will be on the road through the fall.

He’s also scheduled to perform at Stagecoach 2025, a star-studded annual music festival in Indio, California. He’ll be part of the April 27 lineup, alongside acts including Sammy Hagar, Goo Goo Dolls, fellow “American Idol” winner Scotty McCreery, and the day’s headliner, Luke Combs.

While appearing on Global News’ “The Morning Show” on February 18, he said the highlight of his blossoming career has been “getting to meet fans and go to all the different places, and get to see places I never thought I’d never get the chance to go (to).”

He smiled admitting, “I’d probably be pretty steady in one place if it wasn’t for the music.”

One place he’ll definitely be going: Las Vegas, where he plans to marry his longtime girlfriend sometime in 2025, he said.
