Luke Bryan is making changes in 2025, stating, ‘I want to be happy.’ The country music star, who has had an epic 16-year career, celebrated his 31st number one song in October 2024 with “Love You, Miss You, Mean It.” He is also gearing up for his 10th annual Crash My Playa music festival in Mexico. In recent interviews, Bryan revealed that his focus moving forward is more about cultivating happiness than scoring hits.
“I want to be happy,” Bryan told “Taste of Country Nights” in an interview published on January 3, 2025. “Really try to harness and enjoy what’s happened in my career.” Although he won’t be hanging up his guitar anytime soon, he plans to turn down more commitments than he did in the past.
At 48, Bryan is prioritizing enjoying the fruits of his labor and spending time with family, including his wife Caroline and their sons, 16-year-old Bo and 14-year-old Tate. “Thank God I’ve had a lot of amazing years,” he shared in a video with BunnieXo, wife of country star Jelly Roll. He emphasized the need to prioritize downtime moving forward, saying, “I love to stay busy, but I also love to kick back and have fun with friends and family.”
One of his resolutions for 2025 is to “learn to say no a little bit more.” Bryan humorously added, “I gotta learn how to say no and I gotta play golf with Jelly.”
Another reason Bryan wants to prioritize happiness is to avoid becoming an old curmudgeon. “You know, you’ve heard the stories of becoming an old curmudgeon as you get older,” he explained. “I don’t wanna be that. I wanna have fun and have fun with this career and look back and say, ‘Damn, that was fun!’”
To achieve that, Bryan aims to embrace both the ups and downs of his career and improve as a singer and songwriter while spending more time with family. He also mentioned a personal goal to “cuss less,” acknowledging that it’s a challenge when engaging in hobbies like golf, fishing, and hunting.
Looking ahead, Bryan is set to judge the 23rd season of “American Idol,” which premieres on ABC on March 9.
