The new Netflix docuseries Simone Biles Rising drops on Wednesday, promising an inside look at life with one of the most famous women in sports. Simone’s husband, Jonathan Owens, will be in the docuseries, along with several of her family members. In the mix? Her sister, Adria Biles.
Adria is a regular at her big sister’s meets, and she knows her way around a gymnastics competition, too. Simone has made some really sweet comments about her little sister, and it’s clear these two have a special bond. But who is Adria Biles and what’s she doing now? Here’s what you need to know about Simone Biles’ sister.
Who are Simone Biles’ siblings?
Simone has three siblings: older brother Tevin, older sister Ashley Biles Thomas, and little sister Adria Biles.
In 2017, Simone opened up about her upbringing on Dancing with the Stars, including the scary challenges she once faced. “Growing up, my biological mom was suffering from drug and alcohol abuse and she was in and out of jail,” she said. “I never had mom to run to. I do remember always being hungry and afraid.”
She also revealed on the Facebook Watch series Simone Vs. Herself that “growing up, me and my siblings were so focused on food, because we didn’t have a lot of food.”
While Simone has three siblings, she was raised with Adria by her biological grandparents (turned adopted parents) Ronald and Nellie Biles.
What does Simone Biles’ sister Adria do?
Like her big sis, Adria was a gymnast for years. She competed at the junior elite level before stopping in 2016, per gymnastics tracking website MyMeetScores.com.
“My sister has always been fearless,” Adria told ESPN in 2016. “When we were little kids, we’d stand on a railing on the second floor of our house, then jump off onto the couch down below on the first floor. She’d go first, and I’d follow. We were both gymnasts, so we were always trying things around the house. Nothing scared her.”

Simone and her sibling were put into foster care when she was three, and she and Adria were adopted by her grandfather Ronald and his wife Nellie when she was six, according to Vanity Fair.
Ronald’s sister adopted her two older siblings and raised them in Ohio.
“We were very fortunate that we actually got to stay with our siblings, because a lot of the time you either get regrouped from home to home to home or you and your siblings get split up,” Simone told cameras during her Facebook Watch series Simone Vs. Herself.
She was on the reality show ‘Claim to Fame.’
Simone isn’t the only Biles sib in the spotlight. In 2022, Adria starred on the first season of the ABC competition series Claim to Fame, which has siblings of famous people live together and try to guess their identities. Although Adria didn’t take home the crown, she later shared that she stayed longer than she thought she would.

“I was expecting the be the first one out! I did not think I was going to make it so far but I’m really proud of myself,” Adria told USA Today after her elimination. “I guess I didn’t really have a strategy. I basically thought I would walk through the door and walk right back out… As soon as I walked into the house (I knew people had me figured out).”
She’s Simone’s biggest fan.
Adria is a regular on the sidelines of her sister’s meets, and she was also a bridesmaid at Simone’s wedding to Jonathan Owens. Adria posted about her sister’s big day, writing, “the most stunning bride” in the caption.
