Chris Brown responded to the petition calling for the cancellation of his first-ever South African concert in Johannesburg’s First National Bank Stadium on Tuesday (October 15).

An organization called Women For Change launched a petition after learning that Brown would be performing in South Africa, asking the government to reconsider allowing him to perform. In an interview with the BBC, Sabina Walter, the organization’s executive director, expressed her dismay.

“When I saw the news that Chris Brown was coming to South Africa, I was shocked and deeply disappointed,” Walter said.
