“It will be carnage.” Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a horror thriller shark movie called Under Paris, about a shark literally chomping its way through the rivers and sewers of the French capital city. The French title is Sous la Seine, translating directly to Under the Seine. Sophia, a brilliant scientist comes to know that a large shark is swimming deep in the river Seine. In order to save Paris from an international bloodbath, a grieving scientist is forced to face her tragic past when a giant shark appears in the Seine and starts tormenting the city’s inhabitants. Under Paris stars Bérénice Bejo, Nassim Lyes, Léa Léviant, and Iñaki Lartigue. This is such a hilariously cheesy plot with the triathlon swimmers all getting taken out and the Jaws-inspired mayor who refuses to do anything or stop anything. It’s pretty much a B-movie with a Netflix budget. I have to admit, I’m kinda interested in watching just to see how much dumb fun it’ll be. 🦈
Here’s the main official trailer (+ poster) for Xavier Gens’ Under Paris, direct from Netflix’s YouTube:
Summer 2024. Paris is hosting the World Triathlon Championships on the Seine for the first time. To avoid a bloodbath at the heart of the city, they have no choice but to join forces with Adil, the Seine river police commander. Under Paris, also known as Sous la Seine in French, is directed by French genre filmmaker Xavier Gens, of the films Frontier(s), Hitman, The Divide, Cold Skin, Budapest, and last year’s Mayhem, and directing on the “Gangs of London”, “Mortel”, “Lupin” series most recently. The screenplay is also written by Xavier Gens, from an idea by Sebastien Auscher. Netflix will debut Gens’ Under Paris film streaming on Netflix starting June 5th, 2024 during the summer. Who’s in for a swim?
