Jay-Z and Beyoncé are seen at the Louvre Museum in Paris in the well-known music video.  There are pictures of dancers in crop tops and tights, and pictures of them posing in front of the Mona Lisa in pink and mint suits.  I don’t need to mention that there are a lot of artworks in the video.  Wonderful pieces of art.  And guess what? The first shots of the Jay-Z and Beyoncé Louvre video show the ceiling of the Galerie d’Apollon.  Charles Le Brun painted the race of the sun (Apollo, the Roman sun god) across time and space in 1663 at Louis XIV’s request.  The artists Taraval, Durameau, J. J. Lagrenée, Callet, and Renou finished the ornamentation with canvases that served as their greeting pieces at the Academy of Painting, which occupied the gallery in the second part of the 18th century.  Architect Duban reconstructed the gallery between 1848 and 1850, commissioning two pieces by Müller and Guichard as well as the central piece by Delacroix.
