“I’m just going to relax and see where life takes me.” – After a harrowing experience in the Japanese capital, Simone Biles made a triumphant comeback in Paris by reclaiming her throne by bagging four medals. However, now that the dust has settled on the grandeur of the Games, everyone has just one question on their mind. With the Games taking place in Los Angeles 4 years later, will the most decorated gymnast return to the mat?

The 11x Olympic medalist will be 31 in 2028. Even though she makes her routines look flawless, the gymnast continues to shatter glass ceilings. Since she made her debut, the gymnast has always gone above and beyond to change the course of the sport. In fact, after her dreamy Parisian stint, she is now the world’s most decorated gymnast. However, the constant battle to stay on top has worn her down. So, will we get to see her on the mat again?

Casimir Schmidt spills the beans on Simone Biles’ gymnastics future

On November 6, the Dutch gymnast appeared on the RTL Talkshow. Like Simone Biles, Casimir Schmidt represented his nation at the Paris Games. In the men’s all-around finals, he placed #13 on the board. After concluding his stint at the French capital, he joined the G.O.A.T. on the Gold Over America Tour for the next 2 months. Seeing how he’s been around her so often, the gymnast was asked if the 7x Olympic gold medalist will return to the mat next season. “I don’t know if she knows herself.”

The Paris Olympics were the highlight of this season. But next season is going to be just as exciting. The World Artistic Championships commence from October 19 to 25, 2025. The last time Indonesia hosted a meet was the 2018 Asian Games at the Jakarta International Expo Complex. However, the 2025 World Gymnastics Championships are in the IMS Arena. When the host asked Schmidt if he would contest at the World Cup and affirmed. “I hope so. I’m going for it.”

But would Simone Biles make a return? He had no idea. “They didn’t want to talk about that.” Yet, the host brought up how her Netflix documentary. The streaming giants released two new episodes in October, and they believed that there was no mention of her retirement. However, in episode 4, the Olympian opens up about how she will miss this one particular thing about the sport. The 27-year-old reiterated that her ability in the gym is not normal.

Casimir Schmidt clarified, “She doesn’t say anything about what she’s doing to do. But she still has it. She can still do it. She can do it.” Doing what she does at 27 is hard as it is. But according to the Dutch gymnast, her perseverance sets an example for the next generation. “She shows that the ladies no longer have to peak when they are 16, 17, 18. She does it,” he confessed. But what does the gymnast think about the retirement?

Simone Biles has often joked about how she’s “aging like fine wine.” Yet, the 27-year-old has carved an exponential legacy for herself on the world’s biggest stage. Yes, it seems odd that we keep bringing her age up. But here’s the thing! In the French capital, she became the oldest Olympic all-around champion. This title belonged to Maria Gorokhovskaya since the 1952 Helsinki Games, when she contested at 30.

But even though the physical toll of her age has taken over, the gymnast isn’t done just yet. After etching her name in the history books with 11 Olympic medals, LA2028 has been looming on everyone’s minds. When Olympics.com asked the gymnast about the retirement rumors, she hinted that seeing how they will be on her home turf, you never know.

However, there’s still one massive factor. “But I am getting really old.” In fact, she was asked the same thing, and her answer didn’t change. What did she say? “You never say never…” Does that mean she will return to the mat in 2028? The Olympian still hasn’t confirmed whether that will happen.

Yet she did clarify that she hasn’t retired just yet. This further caused a stir within the gymnastics sphere, who hoped to see the 27-year-old back on the world’s biggest stage. Etching her name in history has become the norm for Simone Biles. Regardless of whether she will compete in 2025 or 2028, her journey has been nothing short of epic, and fans clearly can’t have enough.
